Informazioni sul prodotto
Balanophonin is a chemical compound that is produced by the fungus Oroxylum indicum. Balanophonin has been shown to bind to and inhibit the growth of microglia, which are cells in the central nervous system that play a role in inflammation. This inhibition may be due to its ability to activate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). The structure of balanophonin consists of dehydroabietic acid with a p-hydroxybenzoic acid substituent on one side, and a trifluoroacetic acid substituent on the other. It can be synthesized from malonic acid and tissue culture medium. The chemical structure of balanophonin is similar to protocatechuic acid, which has also been found to have an anti-inflammatory effect.
