It has been shown to have antitumor effects in mice and has been found to be effective against Escherichia coli, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. (S)-1-Methylpiperidine-2-carboxylic acid has also shown antibacterial activity in cell culture experiments.
