Descrizione:Isopropyl 2-methylbutyrate is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of alkyl esters. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the cell membrane and interfering with its structure, which leads to a loss in permeability. Isopropyl 2-methylbutyrate has been found to have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activity of this drug is dependent on its chemical structure, as well as the presence of other chemicals such as naphthalene and α-pinene. Isopropyl 2-methylbutyrate also exhibits synergistic effects when combined with other antimicrobials, such as erythromycin.
