Descrizione:Tiodazosin is a pharmaceutical dosage form of Tiodazosin that is a polymeric matrix. It is used to treat hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tiodazosin has been shown to increase renal blood flow by inhibiting the activity of α1-acid glycoprotein, which in turn increases the synthesis and release of nitric oxide from vascular endothelial cells. This drug also has been shown to have antihypertensive effects by blocking receptor activity at adrenoreceptors, thereby decreasing the production of catecholamines at sympathetic nerve endings. Tiodazosin is metabolized in the liver by fatty acid oxidation, with subsequent degradation by fatty alcohols and α1-acid glycoprotein. The process can be monitored using a chromatographic method on human plasma.
