Glycyrrhisoflavone is a natural compound found in the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in tissue culture and to reduce the severity of symptoms associated with HSV infections. This compound also inhibits protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of protein kinase C. Glycyrrhisoflavone has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as influenza and malaria. In addition, glycyrrhisoflavone is a potent inhibitor of human platelet aggregation and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
