Descrizione:MK-8318 is a small molecule that binds to and modulates the activity of β-adrenergic receptors, which are involved in asthma therapy. The drug is orally administered and has shown efficacy in asthma patients with symptoms of bronchoconstriction. It also has been shown to be effective in animal models of asthma. MK-8318 acts as an allosteric agonist at the β2 receptor subtype and may have potential for use in other diseases such as diabetes mellitus, where it may decrease glucose levels by increasing insulin release from pancreatic cells.The drug was first synthesized by Merck Research Laboratories in 2006 and has been used clinically as a research tool since then.
