• Descrizione: EMD 66684 is a vasodilator. It is an antagonist of the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, which prevents the release of chemical messengers that would normally constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure. EMD 66684 has been shown to enhance the release of nitric oxide from vascular endothelial cells and inhibit the production of diacylglycerol. This drug also decreases the synthesis of cyclic guanosine monophosphate, which causes relaxation of smooth muscles in many organs, including the heart and kidneys. EMD 66684 is used to treat cirrhosis and congestive heart failure, as well as clinical conditions such as renovascular hypertension or mesenteric arterial occlusive disease.
