Descrizione:Dimethyl 2-(hydroxyimino)malonate is an aziridine compound that belongs to the category of esters. It is a white, water-soluble solid that reacts with diazoethane to form aziridines. Dimethyl 2-(hydroxyimino)malonate has been shown to thermolyse and react with water to form acids. It also reacts with dimethyl sulfate to form the corresponding acid ester. Dimethyl 2-(hydoxyimino)malonate is stable in acidic solution but hydrolyses in alkaline solutions. This substance has a substituent on its methyl group which makes it more reactive than other compounds in this category. The electronegativity of the substituent on the methyl group increases its stability in acidic conditions, however it decreases its stability in alkaline conditions due to increased electron density on oxygen atoms.
