Cabraleadiol is a hypoglycemic drug that has been used to diagnose and treat patients with type 2 diabetes. It is an oral agent that works by stimulating the release of insulin in the body, which lowers blood glucose levels. Cabraleadiol also reduces blood pressure and prevents aneurysms. This drug binds to the response element on DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products, which helps repair damaged DNA. Low doses of cabraleadiol have been shown to be effective in reducing the incidence of atherosclerosis lesions in rabbits without causing any side effects. Cabraleadiol's mechanism of action is not well understood, but it appears to activate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on macrophages, leading to increased expression of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
