Thiazopyr is an insecticide that belongs to the class of carbonyl compounds. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are involved in processing many drugs. Thiazopyr is used as a treatment for cervical cancer and also as a pesticide. In addition, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. The herbicidal activity of thiazopyr is due to its ability to inhibit the growth of plants by binding with metal hydroxides and thus preventing the formation of oxygen radicals.
