Descrizione:2,4-DB-methyl ester is a chlorophenoxy herbicide that is used to control weeds in orchards and vineyards. It is an acid that is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ether, and benzene. 2,4-DB-methyl ester can be synthesized from 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) by reacting with methanol and methyl chloride. This method of synthesis has been improved by adding hydrogen peroxide to the reaction mixture. The analytical methodology for 2,4-DB-methyl ester can be determined by liquid chromatography with a UV detector at 254 nm. The organic chemicals are then separated on the basis of their polarity. The chromatograms can be read using a computer program called Chemstation software.
