Descrizione:2-Iodomelatonin is a metabolite of melatonin that is used to study the biological effects of melatonin. It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in human serum and hl-60 cells by inhibition of DNA polymerase activity. 2-Iodomelatonin also inhibits dopamine synthesis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the binding of dopamine to its receptor. It also has a cytostatic effect on cells, causing them to stop dividing. 2-Iodomelatonin is an analytical tool for the detection of melatonin in samples. The fluorescence intensity of 2-iodomelatonin increases after incubation with melatonin, allowing for quantification.
