Magnolignan D is a chemical compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their enzymes, preventing them from synthesizing proteins. It specifically binds to hydroxyl groups and has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against various bacterial enzymes, including curcumin. Magnolignan D has also been shown to be an antimicrobial agent that is active against many types of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This compound has been found to be effective at inhibiting the synthesis of protein in cell culture and lysing cells by preventing RNA polymerase from binding to DNA.
