Demethylencecalin is a natural product that belongs to the class of sesquiterpene lactones. It has shown inhibitory activity against autoimmune diseases and schistosomiasis in animal models. Demethylencecalin has also been shown to have growth-regulating properties, which are related to its inhibition of fatty acid synthesis and induction of apoptosis. This compound also stimulates root formation in plants by inducing trichophyton mentagrophytes, which may be due to its ability to bind to chromene receptors on plant cells.
