It is a potent GABA receptor agonist that produces a rapid, reversible increase in intracellular levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by binding to the GABA receptor and inhibiting its ion channel activity. KDS2010 also stimulates the release of dopamine, which may be responsible for its therapeutic effects. KDS2010 is an attenuating agent that reduces neuronal death by attenuating reactive oxygen species generation and preventing the depletion of glutathione.
