It has been studied as a potential drug for cancer and infectious diseases. 1-(10,11-Dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d][7]annulen-5-yl)piperazine inhibits the reuptake of monoamines in the central nervous system by acting as a reuptake inhibitor of neurotransmitters. This agent also has antiinflammatory properties and is being studied for its efficacy against experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model for multiple sclerosis.
