It is synthesized from the reaction of ammonium persulfate and 5-aminouracil with diacetate. This compound can be used as a fungicide and can also be used in the synthesis of 5-amino-1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenoxy)pyrimidine (5-ATP), a chemotherapeutic agent.
