Olean-12-ene-3,24-diol is a fatty acid that can be found in plants. It has been shown to have biological properties such as anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and immunosuppressive activities. The compound also has antioxidant properties and can inhibit the activity of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase, and phospholipase A2. Olean-12-ene-3,24-diol is used as a vaccine adjuvant.
Oleanolic acids are triterpenoid saponins which are derived from oleanolic acid by the removal of two hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring. Oleanolic acids have been found to have antibacterial effects against some strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
