It interacts with TNF receptors and blocks the activation of these receptors by binding to them. TNF-α-IN-1 also inhibits ion channels, such as voltage gated potassium channels, which are involved in the propagation of an action potential in neurons. TNF-α-IN-1 has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cell proliferation in vitro.
