Furanocadalene is a phytochemical that is found in the roots and rhizomes of the plant Hydrastis canadensis. It has shown to be an effective contraceptive, due to its ability to bind to progesterone receptors. Furanocadalene also has anti-cancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation by binding to DNA, thereby preventing transcription and replication. Furanocadalene has been shown to have a protective effect against endometriosis and ovarian cancer.
