Descrizione:Nalbuphine is a potent opioid analgesic that binds to the mu-opioid receptor, but has a higher affinity for the kappa-opioid receptor. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain and has been shown to have an antidepressant effect. Nalbuphine has also been shown to be an effective treatment for neuropathic pain and post-operative pain. The drug was approved by the FDA in 1984 for use in patients with cancer who experience severe pain or other symptoms (e.g., nausea, vomiting). Nalbuphine's mechanism of action involves binding to opioid receptors, which inhibits the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. This drug also blocks voltage-sensitive sodium channels, which reduces neuronal excitability in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord.
