Donitriptan is a 5-HT agonist that is used to treat migraine. It is an analog of sumatriptan, which has been shown to be effective for the relief of migraine symptoms. Donitriptan has been shown to have haemodynamic effects, such as a decrease in blood pressure and heart rate. This drug also has antimigraine properties, which are thought to be due to its ability to increase the production of acetylcholine in the brain. The maximal response of donitriptan occurs at a high concentration and it has been shown to be effective against both vascular and non-vascular causes of migraines.
