Lp-PLA2 -IN-1 is an enzyme that hydrolyzes phospholipids and is involved in the metabolism of lipoproteins. It is secreted by cells in the liver and has been found to have a significant interaction with lp-PLA2. Lp-PLA2 -IN-1 has been shown to inhibit the atherosclerotic lesion formation in mice by inhibiting lipoprotein oxidation, as well as cell lysis when administered intravenously. This enzyme may be a potential drug target for metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and lipid disorders. Lp-PLA2 -IN-1 also has been shown to be effective at preventing balloon injury in rats by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.
