Chlorisondamine diiodide is an acetylcholine receptor antagonist that inhibits the binding of acetylcholine to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on experimental colitis in rats, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of cytokines such as TNF-α. Chlorisondamine diiodide has also been shown to have a cholinergic enhancement effect and reduces the release of histamine from nerve endings.
