GW1929 is a drug that inhibits the production of prostaglandin J2 and hence has anti-inflammatory properties. It also blocks voltage-dependent calcium channels, which are involved in the propagation of pain signals. GW1929 is an agonist for PPARγ, which regulates transcriptional factors. It can be used for the treatment of cancer in humans and animals. GW1929 has been shown to block signal pathways involved in the development of cancer cells and to inhibit tumor formation in rodents. In addition, it has been shown to have an effect on body weight, energy metabolism, and cellular differentiation. The drug also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and pparγ expression in rat adipocytes.
