Amelubant is a covalent leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the binding of leukotrienes to their receptors. It is used for the treatment of bowel disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease. Amelubant also has affinity ligands and is active against eosinophil cationic protein. This drug has a degradable side chain and does not have an active metabolite. It binds to the leukotriene receptor and prevents it from activating, thereby inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory mediators. Amelubant has been shown to be effective in clinical trials for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, with no major adverse effects.
