Octadecyl p-coumarate is a 4-hydroxycinnamic acid that is found in plants. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against a number of organisms, including fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Octadecyl p-coumarate inhibits the growth of a number of test organisms, including Cladosporium cucumerinum and Isoflavones. It also has been shown to inhibit the growth of some human cancer cell lines, such as myeloma cells. This molecule is an isomeric mixture of octadecyl p-coumarate and hexadecyl p-coumarate. The bioassay for octadecyl p-coumarate indicates that it exhibits anti-inflammatory activities.
