• Descrizione: (-)-Trichostatin A is a histone deacetylase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It is able to bind to the nucleosome, which is an aggregate of eight histone proteins and two copies of DNA, and inhibits the binding or transcriptional activation of genes. (-)-Trichostatin A also inhibits the methylation of histones by inhibiting methyltransferases. This inhibition leads to increased expression of tumor suppressor genes and decreased cell proliferation in vitro. (-)-Trichostatin A has also been shown to inhibit collagen gel contraction and increase collagen gel elasticity in vitro. - (-)-Trichostatin A may be a potential therapeutic agent for prostate cancer; however, this has not yet been confirmed in vivo studies.
