Kadsurin A is a novel, orally bioavailable small molecule that binds to the receptor for FGF-2 and inhibits its function. Kadsurin A has been shown to protect against muscle injury in vivo and in vitro by suppressing the activity of two key enzymes involved in muscle tissue degradation, proteases and cathepsins. Kadsurin A also has potent anti-inflammatory effects that may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines from macrophages. These properties make Kadsurin A a promising therapeutic candidate for treating kidney disease, cardiac disease, and muscle loss due to aging or injuries.
