Phyllanthoside is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of methyl glycosides. It has been shown to have cytotoxic and anti-hyperproliferative effects on tumor cells in vitro. Phyllanthoside has been found to bind to proteins involved in protein synthesis, such as ribosomes, and inhibit their function. This compound also inhibits the formation of DNA, RNA, and other cellular components by binding to enzymes that catalyze these reactions. The hyperproliferative effects of phyllanthoside may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and cause cell death by apoptosis.
