Descrizione

Sphaerobioside is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae that has been used as a traditional medicine. Recently, it has been found to have neuroprotective effects and is also used as a food additive. Sphaerobioside can be extracted from the leaves of this plant by chromatography and its chemical structure consists of an isoflavonoid called scandenin. This extract has antibacterial properties and may also be used for treating skin conditions such as acne. Sphaerobiosides are synthesized from lanceolarin, which can be found in C. chinensis at a rate of 8%.
