Warangalone is a coumarin derivative that inhibits the production of cyclic AMP in hl-60 cells. It has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells, as well as significant cytotoxicity in cervical cancer cells. Warangalone also decreases the expression of melanogenesis and inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential. Warangalone is a potent inhibitor of tyrosinase, which is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of melanin. The molecular docking analysis showed that warangalone binds to tyrosinase with high affinity and competes successfully with the substrate (tyrosine). This inhibition leads to decreased levels of melanin, which can be an effective treatment for skin disorders such as acne or melasma.
