Gamma-secretase modulators are a class of drugs that inhibit the activity of gamma-secretase, an enzyme that is involved in the processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP). This drug is a multikilogram ether glycoside and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Gamma secretase modulator 1 binds to APP at the beta-secretase cleavage site, inhibiting the release of beta-amyloid peptides. It also inhibits cycloartenol synthase, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects.
