Descrizione

Arisanetralone D is a schisandra lignan that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) by inhibiting oxidative coupling, which prevents the formation of ROS and RNS. Arisanetralone D also has antiviral properties, with research showing it inhibits HIV-1 replication in human cells. This compound also has antitumor activity, as it inhibits tumor cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis. Finally, it has been shown to have antibacterial effects against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The biosynthesis of arisanetralone D is through oxidative coupling of two molecules: p-coumaroyl CoA and 4′-O-methylpyridoxal 5′-phosphate.
