Descrizione

Eptifibatide acetate is a heparin-like glycosaminoglycan that prevents coagulation by inhibiting the activation of factor X. It has been shown to be effective in reducing the risk of death, myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Eptifibatide acetate binds to the integrin receptor on cells, which activates the growth factor and fibrinogen receptors. The drug blocks platelet aggregation by binding to fibrinogen and preventing its conversion into fibrin. This agent has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit tumor growth in experimental models.
