RTC-30 is a tricyclic dibenzazepine compound that has been reengineered to have increased potency and selectivity. RTC-30 inhibits the enzyme phosphatase, which is involved in cancer cell proliferation. The pharmacological properties of RTC-30 were assessed using assays for anti-cancer activity in xenografts. In these studies, tumor size was reduced by about 50% at the end of the study, compared to untreated control animals. RTC-30 also inhibited tumor growth in mice with implanted human prostate cancer cells, inhibiting both tumor growth and metastasis.
