WAY-262611 is a potent, selective and orally active small molecule activator of the GABAA receptor. WAY-262611 has been shown to have a high affinity for both benzodiazepine and barbiturate binding sites on the GABA receptor, but does not bind to GABA binding sites. It has been shown that WAY-262611 is an inhibitor of Kv1.2 channels at micromolar concentrations in vitro. WAY-262611 has also been shown to be an inhibitor of currents through voltage-gated CNG channels, as well as Ca2+ currents through T-type channels.
WAY-262611 has been shown to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) with an IC50 value of 1 nM in vitro. This inhibition was reversible upon washing off the drug and was not observed when AChE was preincubated with WAY 26261 before adding WAY 26261 at a concentration
