It can also be used to inhibit the activity of a number of enzymes, including those involved in metabolic disorders and auto-immune diseases. Triisopropylchlorosilane has been shown to inhibit the production of amyloid protein by stabilizing the complex between the enzyme and its substrate. The compound also inhibits skin cancer cells and has been shown to cause nitrogen atoms in DNA duplexes to bind with oxygen.
