Trichloroacetic anhydride is used as a derivatization reagent involved in the analysis of amphetamine,methamphetamine and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine. It is also used in the determination of the metabolites of l-alpha-acetylmethadol (LAAM), such as noracetylmethadol, dinoracetylmethadol, methadol and normethadol by electron capture gas-liquid chromatography. It is used in the synthesis of trichloroacetonylpyridine by reacting with 2-methyl-pyridine. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
