Product Information

Name:
2'-O-Acetylspiramycin I
Synonyms:
  • 9-O-[(5S,6R)-5-(Dimethylamino)tetrahydro-6-methyl-2H-pyran-2-yl]-leucomycin V 2A-acetate
Description:

2'-O-Acetylspiramycin I is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of spiramycins. It has shown antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, but not against Gram-negative bacteria. 2'-O-Acetylspiramycin I has been extracted from Spiramyces sp. and can be synthesized in vivo by introducing hydroxyl groups onto the C4' position of the pyridine ring. The synthesis of this compound is achieved by reacting sodium bicarbonate with 3-acetylspiramycin II followed by sulfonylation with chloroform and then hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid. This compound has been characterized using parameters such as elemental analysis, melting point, infrared spectrum, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
