Fluorotriphenylstannane is a fluorinated organotin compound that is used to inhibit the enzyme collagenase and thereby prevents the degradation of collagen. Fluorotriphenylstannane has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on metathesis reactions and chemiluminescence, which are related to fatty acid synthesis. It also inhibits lipoprotein lipase in vitro. This agent has been shown to have health effects in animals, such as increased water vapor production, increased body weight and food intake, decreased respiratory quotient, decreased serum chloride levels, changes in lipid levels and lipid composition of plasma lipoproteins, and alterations in plant cell growth. Fluorotriphenylstannane is not toxic for animal cells because it does not bind to DNA or RNA.
