Product Information
1,2,3,4,5,6-Hexaethynylbenzene (1HTEB) is a synthetic molecule that has a phase transition temperature. When 1HTEB is cooled to below its phase transition temperature of -40°C or heated to above its phase transition temperature of 70°C, it undergoes a transformation from an organic compound to a gas. The hexaethynyl group on the 1HTEB molecule reacts with ethylene diamine and nitrogen atoms in a process called transfer reactions to form long chains of molecules that are called nanotubes. These nanotubes react with hydroxy groups on other molecules in the process of light emission and can be used as fluorescent markers for DNA. They also have the ability to bind to proteins such as diamine tetraacetic acid (DTA) and can be used as labels for protein synthesis.
