8-Bromo-5-fluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester is a benzodiazepine receptor antagonist that is used in the treatment of anxiety. This drug binds to the benzodiazepine receptor with high affinity and competes for binding sites, blocking the action of endogenous or exogenous ligands. 8BFOQC can be classified as a multidimensional molecule with pharmacophoric features that overlaps with other benzodiazepines. It has been shown to have an affinity for GABA receptors and to act as a potent antagonist of this site.
