Description

Phenylbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has been used to treat arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. It is an ester of 2-[2-(phenylthio)phenyl]acetic acid and is chemically related to aspirin. Phenylbutazone inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which produces prostaglandins, leading to pain relief and reduced inflammation.
