Dimethyl[tris(dimethylamino)silyl]amine is a silver salt that is used to prepare aqueous solutions of silver ions for analytical purposes. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cells in culture. Dimethyl[tris(dimethylamino)silyl]amine reacts with amines to form trimethyl-3-aminopropyl dimethoxysilane, which is an amide. The electron-deficient nature of the molecule makes it suitable for use as an analytical reagent. Dimethyl[tris(dimethylamino)silyl]amine has also been used in the synthesis of zirconium oxide nanoparticles and in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
