Rivastigmine is a cholinergic agent that is used in the treatment of dementia in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. This drug is a carbamate derivative that binds to and inactivates cholinesterase such as acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. This leads to an increase concentration of acetylcholine at cholinergic synapse.
