Product Information
Ethyl 4-aminothiazole-5-carboxylate is a synthetic chemical that is used as a zinc reagent. This compound can be synthesized in high yield by refluxing ethyl 4-nitrobenzoate with anhydrous sodium sulfate and hydrochloric acid. The reaction is complete when the solution turns from yellow to red. Ethyl 4-aminothiazole-5-carboxylate can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals, such as ethyl 5-(ethoxycarbonyl)thiophene-2-carboxylate, which can be used to produce drugs for treating cancer. Ethyl 4-aminothiazole-5-carboxylate is also used as a reagent in chromatography experiments involving copper, and it reacts with methylthio compounds to form ethyl thiocyanatoacetates.
