Product Information
Indole-d6 is a molecule that has the chemical formula C8H7N. It has an asymmetric carbon atom and three orientations, namely (1) cis, (2) trans, and (3) gauche. The frequencies of these orientations are different. This molecule has an analog with a methyl group at the 3 position of the indole ring. The nmr spectra of this molecule show two peaks in the region of 4 to 5 ppm. Indole-d6 is used as a receptor probe for membrane activity because it can be solubilized in nonpolar solvents without any difficulty. The vibrational frequency of this molecule is 556 cm-1 in the infrared spectrum and its lamellar orientation is gauche. Indole-d6 is also used to study intestinal bilayers because it can be deuterated and oriented on a macroscopic level.
