Product Information
GL67 is an experimental cancer gene therapy agent with minimal toxicity and a very low potential for adverse effects. It consists of magnetic particles that are injected into the bloodstream and taken up by cells in the tumor, where they can be activated using light to emit heat. This heat damages the tumor cells, leading to cell death. GL67 is designed to produce interleukin-2 (IL-2) in vivo, which stimulates the immune system to attack cancer cells. In animal studies, GL67 has been shown to inhibit transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activity and reduce acid complex production in chronic pulmonary tumors. GL67 has also been shown to inhibit messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of IL-8, a molecule involved in inflammation, while increasing mRNA expression of IL-10, a molecule involved in anti-inflammatory activities.
