It has been used in the detection of beta-galactosidase activity in culture media, and for the detection of beta-galactosidase activity in environmental samples. 4NPAG can be conjugated to a variety of molecules, including antibodies, proteins, nucleotides, and oligonucleotides. 4NPAG can be used as an enzyme substrate for both chromogenic and fluoroquinolone substrates.
